Strawberry Picking & Farm Visit

やっといちごが摘める時期になったので行ってきました。今年は冬が寒かったから、収穫の時期が遅れたところが多いみたいです。暑すぎず寒すぎず、とっても気持ちの良い週末だったので、この辺で人気のファーム（観光用に開いている）までオリバーとクロエと行ってきました〜。

Finally, it's time for strawberry picking! Due to the cold winter, the harvesting time delayed at many farms this year.
It was such a nice weekend so I drove to the popular farm in this area with Chloe and Ollie. 


今年のは実がでっかい、バスケットがすぐにいっぱいになりました。オリバーも１歳の時から毎年春にやっているので、今となっては摘むのがプロで早い（笑）。トータルで９パウンド近くありました。１パウンドが１ドル８０セントとここはまた安いんです。

そしてその後は、ファーム内を歩きまわり。。。

This year's berries were big. They filled our big basket quickly! We've been doing this every spring since Ollie was 1 year old. So he is professional and fast at picking strawberries now. We picked around 8 to 9 pounds today. The farm charges us only $1.80 per pound! 

After the berry picking, we walked around the farm...


カメラを向けると、自然なスマイルができない人（苦笑）。

You see... it's not easy for him to smile at the camera naturally...


ふたりは年齢も６歳離れてるし性別も違うので、今となってはあまり一緒に何かをするということがすっかり減りました。最後に一緒に写真を撮ったのなんていつだったでしょうねぇ〜？

敷地内にはギフトショップとベーカリーもあって、ファッジがなかなか有名です。ファッジというのは違った作り方がまたあるけれど、ここのは・・・小麦粉が入ってないのでクッキーみたいではなくて、チョコレートそのものっぽいタイプ。濃くてまったり、で激甘。一口食べたらもういいですって感じの。
今日はふたりは久々に一緒に遊んだ（？）のでね、ご褒美にファッジを買ってあげました（笑）。

I just realized... being six years apart in different gender, they don't have much activities to do together as they get older. When was the last time I took a picture of them together?!

There is a gift shop and a bakery on the farm property. I rewarded them with fresh made fudge (very sweet and thick stuff) for just hanging out and spending time together :) 


「M＆Mがのってるのがいい！」もちろんそうだろうな。こんな濃いものも、この子たちはペロリと食べてしまう・・・ちょっと恐ろしいんですけど（笑）。

さて、外に出て動物たちに会いに行きましょう〜！

"I want the one with M&M on top!", of course.

みんな笑っているように見えるのは私だけ？いい子たちじゃ〜。

というわけで、そんだけでーす。久々の土曜日のちょっとしたお出かけでした。こうやってカントリーなエリアにドライブするのは結構好き。癒されます。
さ、お家に帰ってさっそくジャムを作らなきゃ〜。

They all look like smiling!? Such sweet animals :)

Anyways... that was all! It was a quick Saturday trip to the rural area.  Going out to the country side is very refreshing to me. I like it.
Now go back home and make some strawberry jam!
