Road Trip to Indiana from North Carolina (Part 2)

次の朝ホテルを出てさっそく、歴史ある”ニューリバー峡谷の橋”を渡って、川の反対側にあるビジターセンターに寄りました。そこからの眺めは絶景でしたよ〜。渡るの怖そうに見えるけど、実際橋の上を通った時には不思議とあまり高さは感じませんでした。次来ることがあったら、川まで降りてカイヤックとかラフティング（川下り）がしたい！
そこから、また違う山道を通って（またしてもナビから消える）フリーウェイに戻りました。川と線路沿いで、滝があったり、古くてかわいい家が並ぶ小さな町があったり、、、それからまわりにある炭鉱からもってこられた石炭をたくさん見ました。ここから鉄道と船を使ってアメリカのいろんなところに運ばれてエネルギー資源として使われる。勉強になっておもしろかった！とってもきれいなところで、ウェストバージニア州の州都チャールストンまでは車で１時間ほど。
そしてさらに、６時間プラス運転してケンタッキー州を通り抜けて、やっとグランマの町にたどり着きました〜。

We left the hotel next morning and crossed the historic New River Gorge Bridge to stop by the visitor center and the overlook. The view of the bridge and the gorge was amazing! It looks scary, but I didn't feel the height much when I was on the bridge actually.
Then, we took another mountain road to go back to the freeway (again, our GPS lost the connection). It was along the river and the rail road, and there were waterfalls and little towns with nicely kept old houses. We saw lots of lots of coals brought from nearby mines and being transported by trains and boats. It was very educational to see where the source of energy is coming from. All of these were within an hour drive from the Charleston (state capital of WV). Beautiful place. I'd love to stop by again, go down to the river and do kayaking or rafting :)
After another six hours of driving through Kentucky, we made it to the grandma's town in Indiana.
